Carol Sturka

Carol is our main character! Begrudging-romantasy-writer-turned-lone-survivor-of-a-mysterious-pandemic, she desperately tries to figure out what the fuck is going on!

While already used to being the center of attention, Carol's world has turned its spotlight even more on her in the wake of her wife's death and the great undoing of individualism. On the tail end of her most recent book tour, the world may have ended...
Or have been reborn.

As of now, she's tried talking to other immune people in the world to come up with an alliance in undoing the "Joining", but is left without any backup. Will Carol persist in her journey?

There's little to suggest that the "Others" are onto a track to successfully infect her any time soon, but it doesn't make her less wary. Except for Zosia. Zosia can... maybe stay.

Carol is stubborn, petty, pessimistic, dramatic, and all flavors inbetween. It makes her a great character to see tackle the situation she's in.

Zosia

Zosia is Carol's companion in the new life that has begun without warning. Though her backstory from before the "Joining" is shrouded in mystery, we know that Zosia was selected by the "Others" to be most appealing to Carol. In a way, she resembles Raban.

Zosia is primarily Carol's guide in the new world; she answers her questions and helps Carol out where she can, even if that help is initially unwanted.

Zosia is also, however, not her own person. Because of the "Joining" she is also everyone else in the world. And - because Helen briefly joined this hivemind-like connection - she also has Helen's memories. Zosia walks a precarious line in being both Carol's confidant as well as something with their own agends: it is the virus' biological imperative to spread itself further, including to Carol.

As of now, Zosia has been briefly out of the running due to the grenade incident, and later again because of Carol's relentless pursuit towards the truth. We'll see how their relationship will develop going forward.

Manousos Oviedo

Manousos remains a mystery until later in the season due to staying hidden from the "Others" for a couple of days after the "Joining". He's living out his first central episode in total isolation while trying to figure out what is going on and establish contact via a radio. The "Others" leave food out for him, but this goes untouched.

Manousos is skeptic, maybe even paranoid, but not violent. He steers clear of the "Others" as much as he can and ignores their efforts to help him. After receiving Carol's video message about trying to reverse the effects of the "Joining", Manousos goes on a grand quest to reach her.

Though little is known of his past and his intentions, Manousos appears pragmatic and set on his course of action. He has a heart for the humanity around him, which isn't present as much in the "Others" as it is in his ways of repaying for everything he uses, and otherwise apologizing for it. His view of the "Others" is as an invasive and distinctly other being.

As of yet, he is the only immune other to actively seek out Carol and hear her out.
